There are many walks around the farm, and if time permits Gwion or I
will take you on a 'farm trail' (and hopefully get you to do a
little work along the way).
There are many restaurants, theatres, mines, castles, narrow gauge
railways, Port Meirion the famous Italian Village, technology
centre, craft centres, gardens and bird sanctuaries all within easy
reach.
For the energetic there are many other things to do, apart from
visiting our miles of sandy beaches of easily accessible mountains
nearby. Such as pony trekking, swimming pools, sea and fresh water
fishing and golf.
There is, of course, a bus service in the area which will take you
to your destination, and a train services, that must run on one of
the prettiest tracks in the country. However, unless you are a very
keen walker staying at Byrdir means that a car is essential.
From the south (Barmouth) take the A496 to the village of Dyffryn
Ardudwy. After passing the 'Ael y Bryn' Hotel, turn right,
signposted Byrdir 1mile wtb brown sign.
From the north (Harlech) take the A496 south for 5 miles. After
passing the village sign Dyffryn Ardudwy take the third turning on
the left, signposted Byrdir 1mile (brown sign).
Drive exactly one mile up the hill. Go through a gate on your right
and head down the hill and then up the other side. Follow the road round
to the right until you get to Byrdir.
Byrdir sits above the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy, 5 miles between
Harlech and Barmouth on the Cambrian coast road the A496.
